Today is World Aids Day.
More than 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981.
Last year an estimated 2 and a half million people became infected. Another 2 million died.
Last year there was an estimated 33.4 million people living with this disease. Half of those are Women. Over 2 million of those are children. 1.4 million of these were in North America.
10% of the world's population is in Africa. 67% of all AIDS cases are there.
In developing countries, 9.5 million people are in need of life saving AIDS drugs. Of these, only half will ever receive them.
Africa has over 14 million AIDS orphans.
